What is coffee?

Coffee begins as the seed of a fruit commonly called a coffee cherry. After the cherries are harvested, the seeds are processed, dried, roasted, ground, and brewed. Every step—from the region where the coffee is grown to the way it is roasted and prepared—can influence the flavor you experience in the cup.

What is “third-wave” or specialty coffee?

Specialty coffee places a greater emphasis on quality, sourcing, craftsmanship, and the unique characteristics of each coffee. Rather than treating coffee as a generic product, third-wave coffee recognizes that different origins, farms, processing methods, and roast profiles can produce distinct flavors and experiences. At Local Habit, we carefully select and prepare coffee to help those qualities shine.
